I had been wondering for weeks how to get all my little bits-and-pieces of art onto that wall. At first I haphazardly taped a few prints up, but most of them were too heavy to stay in place. Then I considered framing them all with old frames of my mum's, or ones found at thrift stores, but the effort-level of that was a little too high for me to ever get around to doing.
So when I saw this, I decided to give it a try.
The gold bulldog clips weren't really a genius idea on my part, I just noticed them when I went into the little stationary store and thought they would be just perfect. Who wouldn't take gold over boring-old-black!
The total cost of this project was pittance compared to what you'd pay getting them framed. The bulldog clips were $2.50 for a pack of six (though I'm sure if you opted for the plain black ones, you could get them for even cheaper.) The nails came in a picture-hanging kit, so I'm not sure how much they are exactly, but I'd be willing to bet you could grab a bunch for just a few dollars. Apart from that, you just need a hammer and a squinty-eye-crooked-checker (or a spirit level, if you want to get fancy) to make sure your pieces are straight-ish.
All you have to do is hammer those little nails in on a bit of an angle (the head of the nail pointing up) so the clip doesn't slide off, clip the artwork in, and hang it!
Quick, fun and rewarding. My kind of diy!
ps. Who knew you could do so many things with bulldog clips!
welcome to the blogging world, my little grasshopper!
